Thrift stores are popular places to shop for secondhand items. Although they are sometimes confused with consignment shops, the materials at thrift stores have been donated with the proceeds from the stores sales usually benefiting charitable organizations. Some thrift stores may be part of large organization, while others may be single stores assisting a very specific cause.
