Eight miles of carrots have been planted on two acres of the 78th Street site to help feed families in need. The first harvest produced nearly 1,500 pounds of orange bounty. The carrots were distributed to food pantries across the county, providing a pound of fresh vegetables to 1,500 families. Over the course of the summer another five tons of carrots will be harvested, feeding 10,000 more families. More than 150 volunteers participated in the first harvest.
