Contact: Kay Hust (360) 397-6118 ext. 7004

This department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the county's Salmon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, pump station, and regional interceptor lines.

Salmon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, for the 4th year in a row, was recently awarded the DOE 100% Compliance award for the year 2002.   All reports were turned in on a timely fashion, and had no violations for the year.  Out of the over 300 treatment plants in the state of Washington, only approximately 30 receive this honor.  Our plant staff strives to run this plant in a cost effective way, while still protecting the environment.

Salmon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant was a national finalist in the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 2003 Clean Water Act Recognition Awards program.  While we did not win at the national level, we did win for the Region 10 area (Alaska, WA, OR and Idaho).  The EPA stated that the managerial results and compliance record of our facility is commendable.
