Biography
Dick Lee is a probation officer (Counselor II) with the Clark County Department of Community Services & Corrections, working specifically with people in the criminal justice system who have alcohol and drug problems. His work in the deferred prosecution program helps DUI offenders get access to treatment in order to avoid conviction. Dick says that, although jail time is the only answer for a few people, for most others, treatment is the best option because it is an opportunity to learn to change behavior.
Part of Dick's job is to help addicted offenders recognize and come to terms with their substance abuse problems. Most of his work involves counseling and tracking people through treatment. Dick has background experience as a police officer and BA degree in police science. Dick has also been a teacher; he was an instructor in the Corrections Program at Clark College for nine years. Dick's speaking experience includes presentations to a variety of audiences: youth and adults, students and professionals.
