"Current Use" Tax Reduction Program

Property owners who register their historic properties make a commitment to preserving these sites. One of the benefits is a lower tax assessment for the underlying land. Every property listed on the Clark County Heritage Register is eligible. To submit nominations to the register, call (360) 397-2375 Ext. 4909. After being listed, applications for a special tax assessment can be obtained at the Department of Assessment & GIS. The special tax assessment begins on January 1 of the year following the application. For more information call the Assessor's Current Use staff at (360) 397-2391, or the Historic Preservation Program, Department of Community Development at (360) 397-2375 Ext. 4909.

Clark County believes in the preservation of our cultural and historic assets. Preservation of significant historic structures is needed so that current and future generations can appreciate our County's rich past and invest in our promising future.
