Child Abuse Intervention Center > Investigation and Child Protection

Investigation and Child Protection

The Center's investigators are comprised of specially trained law enforcement detectives responsible for conducting comprehensive investigations based upon suspected child abuse reports. A Child Protective Service (CPS) social worker is also on-site at CJC and works closely with the detectives to address any safety risks for the child and helps the non-offending family member plan for protection of the child. The detectives document relevant information obtained through interviews, evidence collection, suspect interrogations and other investigative techniques.

Detective reports are forwarded to the CJC Prosecution Unit for review and consideration for criminal charging to protect the child and the community from perpetrators of child abuse.
