CJC Mission
We are a multidisciplinary team seeking the truth, protecting the rights
of victims,
investigating and prosecuting child sexual/physical abuse,
while attempting to minimize
trauma to victims and their families.
The Children’s Justice Center (CJC) is a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center that provides a safe space for child victims and their non-offending family members to effectively address incidents of child abuse in Clark County. CJC staff work together to
provide a fully coordinated and comprehensive response within a supportive atmosphere. Center-site staff collocate from the following public and private agencies: Clark County, City of Vancouver, YWCA Sexual Assault Program, Washington State Department of Children and Family Services and the Children’s Center. Together they investigate, provide support services and help prosecute perpetrators of felony child abuse.
What's new
Increased Local Expertise in Medical Child Abuse Evaluation:
CJC and Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital have forged a new partnership to increase expertise and available health services for child victims of abuse. The Legacy Child Abuse Clinic began providing health services for children who may have been victims of abuse in September 2009. In addition, CJC has completed its remodel of the center to include an examination room for medical partners who prefer the center's supportive and child-friendly environment. A big Thank You! to Commissioner Marc Boldt who was key to helping CJC access state funding for this project. Marsha Stover, an experience Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, began examining children at the center in August 2009, which has further increased medical services for child victims of abuse. Adequate health care is a critical part of a comprehensive response to incidents of child abuse locally.
