Enhanced Patrol

The purpose of the program is to provide for the public safety and community livability through an increased animal control presence within public and student areas of recreation.

Each week animal control officers patrol parks, hiking trails, public meetins areas or schools to look for violations of the leash, aggressive behavior, and scoop laws. These violations are misdemeanors punishable by a maximum of one year in jail and/or a fine up to $1,000. Patrols also occur outside standard hours of operation, and cover all seven days of the week. Additionally, non-uniformed personnel will conduct patrols in support of uniformed animal control officers.

Effective dates:

April through August - Parks (Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation)

September through March - Regional elementary school playgrounds and bus stops
