It is very important that environmental ordinances exist and are enforced to preserve the quality of life for ourselves and future generations. Deterioration of the environment not only affects human life, but also that of animal and fish habitat.
Education is the number one responsibility of the Code Enforcement Officer and is vital to achieve compliance. Working with homeowners, contractors, builders, and developers is often necessary to help them understand the importance of applying the best management practices to their project in order to insure water quality and preserve our resources.
Environmental complaints include erosion control violations, dumping hazardous waste and grading in a habitat, a designated wetland or a waterway.
