Because fish populations are rapidly declining throughout the Northwest, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), under provisions of the ESA, has listed several fish species as threatened. In Clark County, these include chinook, chum, steelhead, and bull trout. Cutthroat trout might be listed in the near future. Unless immediate steps are taken to reverse their decline, these fish will next be listed as endangered, meaning extinction is likely soon.
