Site Hazard Assessment

Improperly stored chemicals can threaten human health

Improperly stored chemicals can threaten human health

This program is responsible for assessing environmental conditions, types and quantities of waste at a site that are adversely affecting the environment by releasing contaminants. It works with other agencies, such as the Clark County Sheriff's Department and Clark County Code Enforcement, to assure that sites are properly cleaned up where accidental contamination or spills, illegal waste disposal or dumping have occurred.

Site hazard assessment also includes:

  • enforcing state and local regulations and policies regarding proper handling and disposal of hazardous and/or toxic substances
  • investigating complaints regarding improper handling and/or disposal of hazardous and/or toxic substances
  • partnering with other state and local agencies in investigation and enforcement of state and local regulations and policies regarding drug lab clean-up
