The Clark County Health Department works to monitor and prevent HIV and AIDS in Clark County. These activities include both training and consultation for health care providers, and outreach, education and HIV counseling and testing for persons at risk of the disease. In addition, support and referral services to people living with HIV and AIDS are provided through state and federal funding. The Health Department is responsible for coordination of funding for HIV and AIDS services throughout an eleven county region in southwest Washington, and a community consortium provides guidance to local HIV care services funded by the Ryan White Care Act.

Since HIV infection is spread primarily through sexual practices or by sharing needles, prevention messages and programs may address these topics.
