Always working for a safer and healthier community
Because your health affects just about everything you do, it helps define you as a person. Similarly, the health of a community is an indicator of its quality of life. To protect individual and community health and improve the quality of life in Clark County, the Clark County Public Health:
- Watches for indicators of disease outbreaks and takes steps to stop them.
- Monitors reports of hazardous materials and other threats to the health and safety of residents.
- Helps people access health care resources in the community.
- Watches for population changes that might indicate the need for new approaches to delivering health care.
One of 35 statewide public health agencies, the public health department is funded by a combination of Clark County allocated funds, state and federal grants and matching funds, and fees for services rendered to clients. Health department clientele includes:
- People with under-served health care needs
- High-risk families
- Immigrant communities
- People whose needs stem from environmental issues or concerns
- Businesses and organizations offering food and personal care services
