7. How do I reset my password on iRecruitment?
Use the Current Job Openings page and select the "I have a User ID and Password" link. Under the Username and Password fields on the right is a link to reset your password. Select that link and then enter your e-mail on the page that comes up to submit a password request. You should receive an e-mail with a new password.
8. My password didn't work when it was reset. What should I do?
Send an e-mail to Recruitment@clark.wa.gov stating your problem. We will respond within one business day.
9. Who can I speak with to check on the status of my application?
Due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to verify the status of individual applications. If you applied online you can check the status of your application in the system. If you submitted a paper application, allow one to four weeks to be contacted if you are selected for an exam and/or interview.
10. Can I fill out a paper application instead of the online application?
Yes, you can submit a paper application. However, we strongly encourage you to complete an online application. Completing an online application allows you to:
- Make changes to your application instantly.
- Check the status of your application.
- Receive confirmation that your application has been received.
If you need to fill out a paper application, you can download an application packet from our website.
11. Do I always have to register to do the online application?
No, you only need to register once. You do need to log into the system each time you want to view or apply for jobs, or make updates to your application.
12. What do I click on if I can't remember if I have ever applied at Clark County?
Use the Current Job Openings page to submit a password request. If you have applied in the past, you will receive a password reset. If you haven't applied, you will receive confirmation to create an account.
13. When I enter my employment history why doesn't it appear in chronological order?
Employment history stores in the order it was entered. However, when Human Resources reviews applications they are automatically sorted in chronological order.
14. My spouse and I share an e-mail account and he/she is already registered in iRecruitment. Can I use his/her e-mail account?
No, each e-mail account must be unique to the person. Use the Current Job Openings page to login as a different user.
15. Can I target a resume for a specific job if I am applying for multiple positions?
Your resume and/or cover letter will be associated with all jobs for which you have applied. You can, however, name the resume and cover letter to reflect your interest in a specific position.
16. How do I get help using iRecruitment?
If you have questions or encounter any difficulties completing your online application, please call (360) 397-2456 during regular business hours, 8 AM - 5 PM (PT) Monday - Friday for assistance.
17. What is iRecruitment?
iRecrutiment is the Clark County online application system. It allows you to search all open positions at the County, create and submit an application, and gives you the ability to view the status of applications you have submitted.
18. I have already created an online application and applied for positions. I just changed my e-mail address. How does this affect my ability to use your online system?
You should log in using your old e-mail address and change your e-mail address to your new e-mail address on the My Application - Personal Information page. Once you have submitted your new e-mail address, the system will recognize it as your new login ID. You will then be required to use your new e-mail address each time you log back into the system.
19. How do I find out what jobs are available?
From the Applicant Home Page, click the link for "All Jobs;" you can search for open positions by various criteria, such as job category or keyword(s).
20. If I'm not sure which job I want, can I just submit a blank application online and let you determine what job I qualify for?
Because of the high volume of applications received annually, Clark County cannot match candidates to available positions. You must complete and submit an online application for each position for which you are applying. Many jobs require responses to supplemental questions that vary from position to position. Remember, if you are applying for multiple jobs simultaneously, you will only complete one application at a time in iRecruitment.
21. I applied for a job yesterday. I found another job online that I want to apply for today. Do I have to fill out all of my information again?
Not all of it. With iRecruitment, once you log in using your e-mail address and password, iRecruitment will retrieve your application. iRecruitment will "remember" some information you have already provided. You will have the opportunity to add or edit the pre-populated information. You will also need to complete the information on all of the other pages that do not pre-populate.
22. Can I enter an application for a position before the job is open?
Only recruitments currently open will appear on iRecruitment. If you anticipate a specific position becoming available, please return to iRecruitment frequently.
23. I have already created an online application and applied for a position. I am now returning to apply for additional jobs and receive a message saying my e-mail address is already in use. What do I need to do?
If you have already created an account and are a returning user, please go to the Current Job Openings page, and be sure to click on the link that says "I have a User ID and Password." Be sure to sign-in to the system using your e-mail address and password before viewing the job vacancies and adding jobs to your job basket.
24. What is a job basket and how do I create one?
A job basket is a temporary holding spot for jobs you want to apply for that you selected during your search of our site. To create one, left click in the Selection column next to the recruitment number and then the Add to Basket button. To access your basket, left click on the Job Basket icon located at the top and bottom of the page. Once your basket is opened, you have the option to Delete From Basket or Apply Now. Directons are provided on the Job Basket page.
25. Are all sections of the application required? Do I need to answer the supplemental questions?
Yes to both. It is your responsibility to ensure that all sections of the online application are completed, including the Assessment. Incomplete or improperly completed online applications may be rejected even if you are qualified for the position for which you are applying. Likewise, it is your responsibility to be sure that your online application reflects the required work experience and education needed to meet the minimum requirements for the position(s) for which you are applying.
26. Do I need to list all the positions I have held?
Yes. Your "application" must be a complete and accurate representation of your work experience and education. Please be sure your application includes the following information for each position you have held:
- Name of company/employer
- Starting and ending dates - month and year
- Job Title
- Address
- Job Duties
- Final Salary
- Supervisor's Name
- Supervisor's Phone Number
- Hours per Week
- Number of Employees Supervised
- Reason for Leaving
- Indicate if Clark County can contact this employer
Also include any university/college you attended and the type of degree(s) awarded.
27. I applied for positions with Clark County prior to November 25, 2006, but am not able to sign-in to the system using my e-mail address and password. Is this correct?
Yes. If you applied for positions prior to this date, you have not yet created an account and online application for iRecruitment. Please go to the Current Job Openings page and click on the "I HAVE NEVER USED iRECRUITMENT - CREATE AN ACCOUNT" link to view job vacancies or create an online application.
28. In addition to applying online, would you recommend that I also forward my resume directly to the hiring department or Human Resources?
While we appreciate your enthusiasm, the online application is the official way to apply for positions at Clark County. Applicants who forward resumes to Human Resources or the hiring department will be redirected to the online system.
29. What happens if I submit an online application but do not complete all required sections?
Online applications that are incomplete will not be considered. Please be sure that all sections of your online application are completed prior to clicking the submit button.
30. How many applicants apply for a position?
The number of applicants who apply for a position varies from vacancy to vacancy and recruitment to recruitment. The average number of applicants for any one position is generally around 50. It is not uncommon, however, for us to receive over 100 applicants for one vacancy. Specialized positions, such as Public Health Nurse or Engineer III, may have fewer than 10 applicants. Keep in mind that the application process at Clark County is very competitive. Since many applicants hired into positions have qualifications that exceed the advertised minimum requirements, we recommend that you target those positions that most closely match your experience, education, and interest.
31. I see there is a closing date for the job I am applying for, but no closing time. Does that mean I can submit my application at any time on the closing date?
If you are applying online: You may submit your application up until 11:59 PM (PT) on the closing date. Applicants are STRONGLY encouraged not to wait until the last minute to submit their application for several reasons: 1) If you submit an application after 11:59 PM (PT) on the closing date, the system will not accept your application; 2) An incomplete application submitted close to the closing time allows you little to no opportunity to make corrections; 3) It is impossible to predict technical difficulties, on your end OR our end. Please do not wait until the last minute. Clark County is not responsible for technical difficulties or delays.
If you are submitting a Hard Copy (Paper) Application: Hand delivered, mailed, or faxed applications must be received by the Human Resources Department NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM (PT) on the closing date (postmarks are not accepted). Clark County is not responsible for lost or delayed mail or faxes.
