The cities of Camas and Vancouver have requested that Clark County plan for a future extension of Northeast 18th Street from Northeast 192nd Avenue to Northeast Goodwin Road.
The proposed four-lane arterial street would be added to the County's Arterial Atlas, which shows the long-range roadway system plan. This road extension is proposed because future development in this region is expected to increase the demand for east-west travel beyond what Northeast 1st and 13th Streets can handle.
City and County transportation staff discussed this proposal with the public at an open house on Thursday, May 28.
A Clark County Planning Commission public hearing was held on August 20, 2009, on the proposed Northeast 18th Street Extension Arterial Atlas Amendment. The Planning Commission recommended denial of this proposal by a 4-to-1 vote.
The Clark County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 27th 2009 at 10:00 a.m., in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, 6th Floor, Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin Street, Vancouver, Washington to consider the proposed NE 18th Street extension Arterial Atlas Amendment.
