The Val Ogden Center

Men and women who live with mental illness want what all people want: a good job, friends, someone to love, a safe and comfortable home, and to belong and contribute to community. The Val Ogden Center can assist people who live with various types of mental illness achieve many of these things.

The Val Ogden Center is not a clinical program. Instead, it is a clubhouse "owned" by all of the members and staff who are building and contributing to the program. All members and staff work side-by-side to perform the work necessary to operate the Clubhouse on a daily basis. Members see that their talents and abilities make a tangible, positive impact on the Clubhouse environment. Because people work closely together as a team, a very supportive community is formed. Not long after a person becomes a member of the Val Ogden Center, he or she begins to feel needed by this work-structured, supportive community.

One of the main objectives of the Clubhouse model is to help those with mental illness return to the working community. Many with mental illness no longer believe that they have useful skills that are needed, their self-confidence has been diminished, they don’t feel like they are contributing members of society, and they often feel alone and without support. That is where the Val Ogden Center comes in! We foster a community of support. Staff and members work side-by-side to find old talents again or discover new talents which can enable a member to return to the working community. We enable members to achieve this goal through our Transitional, Supportive or Independent Employment programs.

We appreciate your interest in Val Ogden Center. If you are interested in finding out how to become a member, please call or come by for a tour.
