Diking and drainage district candidate filing period

On Monday, December 7, 2009, the Clark County Elections Department will begin taking candidate filings for the positions of commissioner for Drainage District No. 2, Drainage Improvement District No. 5 and Diking Improvement District No. 14. The filing period will begin at 8 AM on Monday, December 7 and will end at 5 PM, Friday, December 11, 2009.

The official date of the election for these commissioner positions will be Tuesday, February 2, 2010. If only one candidate files for any one of these three positions, they will be deemed elected and no election for that office will be held.

In order to be eligible to file or to vote within each of these districts, a person must have been a registered voter within the State of Washington for at least 30 days and also has to have owned property within the district for at least 30 days. Any corporation or partnership owning property in one of these districts has the right to appoint one individual as their representative to vote for a candidate or to run for office within the district.
