Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Commissioners has scheduled a public hearing at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, to consider a proposed tax on admission to certain venues and events.
Short Season, LLC is proposing to move the Yakima Bears Class A baseball team to Vancouver. The admissions tax could be used to help build a multi-purpose stadium for baseball and other events on the Clark College campus. The money also could be used to help pay for public programs under the jurisdiction of Clark County or a local city.
The hearing will be in the sixth-floor hearing room at the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The focus will be a draft ordinance for a 5 percent tax limited to certain venues and events, subject to an agreement with the City of Vancouver and effective no earlier than Jan. 1, 2012.
