The Clark County Arts Commission invites the public to see the work of several local artists exhibited in three public buildings during the June 1 First Friday Art Walk in downtown Vancouver.

The works of Anne John, who is active in the arts community as an instructor, jurist and member of the Arts of Clark County, will be on display on the sixth-floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. A reception for John will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the exhibit space.

Also, Battle Ground sculptor James Lee Hansen, John and local artists K.C. Madsen and Bill Park will have work on display at Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St. The exhibit will be open 5-9 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is a collaborative effort by the Arts Commission, Arts of Clark County and Library Foundation.

At Vancouver City Hall, visitors can see the first part of an exhibit by Janice Arnold, an internationally recognized textile artist and felt maker. She is the daughter of Vancouver map-maker Phil Arnold, whose work will be featured in the second part of the exhibit in July. Vancouver City Hall is at 415 W. Sixth St. It will be open 5-9 p.m.

Local businesses participating in the Art Walk also will be open until 9 p.m.

Recently, John’s display in the Public Service Center launched an Arts Commission program that will bring the works of local artists to the county building quarterly. The building’s long, sixth-floor hallway walls provide space for large pieces.
