Vancouver, WA – Ten images made by eight local young people have been selected as winners of the Favorite Places in Clark County photography contest, the Clark County Youth Commission and Community Planning announced. The 10 winners were selected from among nearly 50 entries from across the county.

All entries will be on display at gallery360, 111 W. 9th St., during the Nov. 2 First Friday Art Walk. The exhibit will remain up through November.

On Dec. 4, the Board of County Commissioners will honor the 10 winners during its regular 6 p.m. meeting, which is open to the public. At that time, the exhibit will be hung on the sixth-floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.

The photo contest illustrates how some youths feel about and connect to a particular location. Knowing what types of places residents value will help guide how we plan for Clark County’s future.

The Youth Commission designated three of the top photographs as Grand Prize winners. Those photographers exceeded the contest criteria of creativity, representing theme and quality of photograph.

The winning photographers are:

• Emma Golliday, 17, of Vancouver
• Hannah Gutkind, 14, of Washougal
• Betsy Hanrahan, 13, of Vancouver
• Justine Hanrahan, 17, of Vancouver, a Grand Prize winner
• Mickayla Johnson, 17, of Vancouver
• Matt Murray, 17, of Vancouver, two-time Grand Prize winner
• Kristine Pascual, 19, of Vancouver
• Lily Walsh, 8, of Vancouver
