2013 ‘Do It Yourself’ fair offers variety, but no free shredding service
Vancouver, WA – The Green Neighbors Do-It-Yourself Fair will include a slew of fun and interesting activities this Saturday, but one thing it won’t offer is free shredding for local residents.
Shredding has been a popular draw with long lines at previous “DIY” fairs. The fair will not include shredding this year, contrary to some information circulating in the community and published by mistake in The Columbian newspaper print and online editions today.
“We appreciate the great coverage by The Columbian, and the large turnouts we have had in the past,” said Jim Mansfield, program coordinator for Clark County Environmental Services. “We just need to correct any misunderstanding to prevent inconvenience and disappointment for people who may show up this weekend.”
Mansfield said Environmental Services works with many community partners to help Clark County families reduce and manage household waste. For those especially interested in shredding, the Battle Ground Lions Club will host a free shredding event Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 2108 W. Main St., in cooperation with LeMay Mobile Shredding.
The fair this weekend will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Clark College, Gaiser Hall, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. For details, visit www.ClarkGreenNeighbors.org/happenings/DIY-Fair
