Spring budget upgrades permit system
Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Commissioners updated the county budget Tuesday, including financing to begin major renovation of a 14-year-old computer system used to track permits related to building and development.
The board appropriated $2.3 million from the General Fund for the project to proceed after the county selects a private contractor this year. The project could have a budget up to $4.7 million from all sources.
The county expects to revamp the system used by Community Development, Public Works, Environmental Services and other departments while adding web-based services for customers and mobile computing for staff.
In other adjustments, the board approved technical changes and accounting measures to align the budget with policy and program decisions announced earlier. These included reorganization of regional mental health services, elimination of debt on the sewagetreatment plant, staffing capacity for Superior Court and elimination of parking fees at county parks and boat launches.
