STASHA youth drug prevention team seeks to fill vacancies

Vancouver, WA STASHA Strong Teens Against Substance Hazards and Abuse peer education program is recruiting youth to fill vacant positions for the 2013-2014 program year.

STASHA peer educators are dedicated to addressing alcohol and other drug issues among youth in Clark County. Program goals include:

Promoting awareness through outreach and educational programs.
Advising county groups how best to address substance abuse at the community level.
Supporting programs and policies that minimize abuse of alcohol and other drugs.

Aged 12-19, peer educators live throughout the county. Up to 20 youth serve at one time. They represent youth who never have used drugs or alcohol, youth with past experimentation or use and those who have completed treatment and are in recovery. Each serves a one-year term, committing to attend meetings the first and third Mondays of each month.

To be eligible, youth must be willing to share their opinions and perspectives on substance abuse prevention. Training is provided.

Youth interested in applying must complete an application and interview. The application can be found at www.clark.wa.gov/youth-family/prevention.html.
Deadline is Friday, June 14.
