The filing period for citizens wishing to become candidates for elective office is rapidly approaching. The offices open for candidate filings this year include a superior court position, city and town council positions, including some mayor positions, school district director positions, fire district commissioners, port district commissioners, cemetery and park district commissioners and a commissioner position in the Clark Regional Wastewater District.
The in-person period to file a declaration of candidacy will begin at 8:00 AM, Monday, May 13 and runs through 5:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2013. Candidates wishing to file for office in person can do so at the Clark County Elections Department, 1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver, 98660.
Candidates for elective office will also have the option of filing their declaration of candidacy over the Internet again this year. The online candidate filing system will be available at http://clarkvotes.org
from 9:00 AM, Monday, May 13 and will stop being available at 4:00 PM, Friday, May 17.
In order to file online as a candidate, a citizen must have a valid email address and be registered to vote in the jurisdiction for which they are filing. Candidates will also be able to pay any candidate filing fee online using a valid Visa or MasterCard credit card.
