Vancouver, WA – PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center’s proposed Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) will be the topic of a Tuesday, May 21, meeting of the Commission on Aging.

The meeting will be 4:30-6 p.m. in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is open to the public, and a chance for Clark County residents to share concerns about needs of local residents.

Marc Berg, director of homecare, hospice and care management for PeaceHealth, will introduce the new program. PACE is an innovative program serving seniors with complex care needs. The PACE model helps keep older adults as healthy as possible by integrating comprehensive health care and social services including: primary and specialty medical care; a day-health program; nursing; therapy; social work services; rehabilitation; transportation; and, housing, if needed. The commission has supported PeaceHealth in its mission to establish a PACE program for Southwest Washington by providing a forum for community information and comments.

Berg has worked more than 30 years in health care. His experience includes starting a firm specializing in home respiratory care, being chief financial officer for a venture capital-funded equipment manufacturer, director of reimbursement for a national provider of home services and chief financial officer for Providence Senior & Community Services.

Following a national trend, Clark County’s population of 60+ is growing and projected to almost double by 2030. The Board of County Commissioners appointed the aging commission, an advocacy panel, to help the county and local cities implement an Aging Readiness Plan. It has 91 strategies about housing, transportation, recreation, lifestyle choices, support services and civic and social engagement.
