Freeholder information forum in July for November general election
Vancouver, WA – Clark County will host a forum next month for residents interested in running for one of 15 nonpartisan freeholder positions on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.
The forum is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, in Gaiser Student Center at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.
The Board of County Commissioners agreed this week to conduct the election of nonpartisan freeholders to write a home rule charter. Five freeholder positions will be available in each commissioner district.
Persons interested in volunteering as a freeholder may file as a candidate with the Clark County Elections Department between 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, and 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. Filing is free.
Candidates must be registered to vote in Clark County, a resident of the commissioner district from which they are seeking election, and have lived in Clark County no less than five years.
Freeholders will serve a term beginning immediately after certification of the November general election and ending Dec. 31, 2014, or when a draft charter is submitted for a public vote, whichever comes first.
