Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Commissioners is seeking volunteers to help write statements advocating and opposing six ballot measures for the official Voters’ Pamphlet for the Nov. 5 election.

County voters will be asked whether commissioners should:

• Oppose any light-rail project in Clark County unless supported by a majority of county voters in a countywide advisory vote?

• Oppose any bus rapid transit project in Clark County unless supported by a majority of voters in a countywide advisory vote?

• Adopt policies in support of toll-free bridges crossing the Columbia River:

o In the vicinity of Northeast 192nd Avenue east of Vancouver?
o West of Interstate 5 to connect with Oregon in Northwest Portland?
o To replace the existing Interstate 5 bridge in the same location?

• Limit sale of fireworks to July 2, 3 and 4 and the discharge of fireworks to July 4, consistent with existing regulations within the Vancouver city limits.

“We need dedicated teams to complete this task by August 15th,” said Board Chair Steve Stuart. “They will have a critical role in helping generate meaningful answers to address concerns that have divided our community for too long.”

The board approved the ballot measures following a public hearing on Aug. 5. Anyone interested in writing pro or con statements must express interest by noon Wednesday, Aug. 7 by contacting the commissioners’ office: (360) 397-2232 or
