Send-off for retiring county administrator open to public Sept. 5

Vancouver, WA – An open house at the county’s Public Service Center will celebrate more than four decades of public service by outgoing County Administrator Bill Barron from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5. Barron plans to retire Sept. 10.

The Sept. 5 gathering will be on the plaza in front of the county’s Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., weather permitting. The event will move indoors if necessary. Presentations will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Parking will be available in the garage just north of the Public Service Center. Visitors are welcome to use spaces not reserved by parking permit holders.

A farewell interview with Barron is airing on CVTV-23 (Clark-Vancouver Television) through September. The interview is online at

Barron began his career in public administration in Lake County, IL in 1972, following active duty in the U.S. Air Force. He became county administrator for McHenry County, IL in 1994. The Board of County Commissioners hired Barron in 1998 to become chief administrative officer for Clark County.
