Businesses benefit from a skilled and ready labor force

Vancouver, WA The Clark County Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board, Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, city of Vancouver and New Seasons Market will host a free community event celebrating local businesses and individuals supportive of persons with developmental disabilities in the workforce.

The 12th annual celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Hilton Vancouver, 301 W. Sixth St. The theme is Employment for All Believe It, Achieve It.

Event sponsors will announce the 2013 Clark County Community Awards, highlighting local businesses committed to hiring persons with developmental disabilities and employees with disabilities who help forge a dynamic, productive workforce.

Attendees also can learn about the benefits of hiring people with development or intellectual disabilities. Informational materials from supporting agencies will be available.

Light refreshments will be served.
