Clark County Fair manager tapped to also manage Event Center
Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Commissioners recently affirmed the appointment of John R. Morrison, Clark County Fair manager and chief executive officer, to also take the job of Event Center executive director at the fairgrounds.
Morrison was hired as fair manager by the nonprofit Fairgrounds Site Management Group in 2009. He had volunteered with the Clark County Fair Association board for the previous 16 years, serving as chairman for six. He will work for the Fairgrounds Site Management Group in both capacities.
Under his leadership, this year’s fair set income records for the food court and carnival. Attendance was 269,269 − the highest in 10 years.
Previously, he was owner of JRM Management Services of Battle Ground and chief financial officer for Online One in Battle Ground.
Morrison served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 until his retirement in 1991 at the rank of colonel. He is a Vietnam War veteran.
Morrison currently chairs the Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Board. Previously, he served six years on the board of Silver Buckle Rodeo Club and was president of the Clark County Beekeepers’ Association. He also was chair of the Battle Ground School District Air Force Junior ROTC Advisory Committee.
Morrison earned a bachelor’s degree in social science and economics at Chapman College and master’s in educational administration at Pepperdine University. He was the U.S. representative to the Australian Joint Services Staff College in Canberra and is a graduate of the National Security Management program for senior Department of Defense officials at Harvard University.
