Public meetings this month on recreational marijuana facilities

Gordon Euler, Community Planning
Phone: (360) 397-2280 ext. 4968

Vancouver, WA The public is invited to four public meetings about where marijuana-related facilities could be located in Clark County, as allowed by Initiative 502.

Community Planning is hosting the public meetings to answer questions and get feedback, which will be forwarded to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners early next year.

All meetings are 5-6:30 p.m., and are open to the public. The meetings are:

- Monday, Nov. 18, at Clark County Fire and Rescue Station 21, 911 N. 65th Ave., Ridgefield
- Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Clark County Fire District 3, 17718 N.E. 159th St., Hockinson
- Monday, Nov. 25, at Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.
- Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. 4th Ave., Camas.

Initiative 502, about recreational marijuana, was approved by Washington voters in November 2012. The Washington State Liquor Control Board has developed regulations to license facilities that would grow, process and sell marijuana and related products. The regulations will take effect Nov. 16, 2013.

The county must determine in which zoning districts marijuana-related facilities could be allowed. State regulations currently prohibit such facilities within 1,000 feet of schools, parks, playgrounds, recreation facilities, libraries and game arcades. Clark County enacted a moratorium on recreational marijuana-related facilities earlier this year.
