Because of the strong influence of the built environment on community health, the county is preparing a Health Element for the Comprehensive Growth Management Plan. Once the Health Element is adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, the plan will include policies and strategies specifically designed to improve the long-term health of county residents.
Work on the Health Element is expected to last through 2011 and will involve extensive public outreach. Public Health will host a series of events and activities to provide opportunities for residents to learn more, share their vision for a healthier community and provide input.
