The Aging Readiness Plan (PDF) assesses the county's readiness to serve as a home for a growing number of older residents. The plan includes 91 strategies to improve the community’s capacity to support its growing older population and ultimately benefit all ages. The plan is divided into five elements briefly described below:
Healthy Communities Improve the built environment to provide opportunities for better physical and mental health.
Housing Sufficient affordable housing options and communities that incorporate universal design features to help people remain in their homes and neighborhoods.
Transportation and Mobility The ability to get around safely allows people of all ages and abilities to connect with others and maintain independence.
Supportive Services Information about and access to services are critical to remain independent as long as possible.
Community Engagement Sufficient and meaningful opportunities for lifelong learning and engagement in social and civic activities.
