two men in gardening in greenhouseCommunity involvement is important for everyone, no matter what age. Older adults' desire to remain active and give back to their communities is well-documented.

The Aging Readiness Plan identified three challenges that adults face as they age in relation to staying engaged within their communities. 

  1. Meaningful opportunities to stay engaged
  2. Barriers to employment
  3. Lack of accessible information about engagement opportunities

Community Engagement work committee

To combat these challenges in our communities, the Community Engagement work committee is working on the strategies listed in Chapter 5 (PDF) of the Aging Readiness Plan.  To find out what the committee is currently working on, see the information below.
