The Aging Readiness Task Force will assess the county’s capacity to serve as a home to the growing number of older people who will be living in Clark County. The Task Force will concentrate on the areas of housing, transportation, health care, supportive services, and civic/social engagement.
The task force will:
-
Review models that have been used nationally to assess a community’s aging readiness.
-
Inventory existing public and private sector amenities, programs and services available to Clark County residents. Gather information regarding the expected need and demand for such services based on anticipated senior population.
-
Assess the community to identify gaps in amenities, programs and services. Gather input from the broad community and service providers.
-
Coordinate its efforts with groups that are engaged in similar planning operations.
-
Develop recommendations by July 2011 that will serve as a blueprint for short-term, medium-term and long-term actions. The goal of these recommendations will be to identify specific strategies to enable Clark County residents to continue to be integral members of our community.
Members
The task force consists of 25 members appointed by the Board of Clark County Commissioners. Members include representatives from the housing, transportation, health care, support services, civic/social engagement professions as well as representatives of the community at-large. Appointed members will serve a 20-month term from May 1, 2010 to December 31, 2011.
