US National Bank Building

Fluted columns framing the arched main entrance of this five-story brick-faced building and a classically ornamented entablature provide accents to the crisp appearance of the Commercial style.

Built for the U.S. National Bank, it was a centerpiece of downtown commercial activity until 1933, when the Depression brought about widespread bank closures. In 1983, a private developer undertook a complete renovation, with the assistance of Community Development Block Grant funds and Special Valuation Historic Incentives, after which it was renamed the Heritage Building.

  • Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
