Planning council to review proposed Employment Zone changes
Oliver Orjiako, Community Planning
Vancouver, WA – The Three Creeks Advisory Council will meet Thursday, July 12, to discuss recommendations of the Employment Zone Task Force.
The meeting will be 10 a.m. to noon at the offices of the Clark Regional Wastewater District, 8000 N.E. 52nd Court, in the Hazel Dell area.
The Employment Zone Task Force’s mission was to streamline the industrial, office campus and business park zones to encourage economic development and good-paying jobs. Some recommendations expand the uses allowed in light industrial zones to allow for some heavy industrial uses and limited retail.
County staff will present the recommendations, seeking the council’s support for the proposed plan before it goes to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners for consideration.
Proposed changes are available at http://www.clark.wa.gov/planning/EmployZones/index.html.
In addition, the meeting will include an overview of the county’s sub-area plans for Discover Corridor, Salmon Creek and Pleasant Highlands.
The Board of County Commissioners appointed the Three Creeks Advisory Council to assist the county on transportation, land-use planning and related issues in the planning area. It includes unincorporated areas around Hazel Dell, Felida, Lake Shore, Salmon Creek and the fairgrounds.
