Solid Waste Advisory Commission applications extended

Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Commissioners is extending the deadline for applicants to fill a volunteer position on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission.

The position represents the southeast area of the county. Applicants must reside in the area bounded roughly by what would be Northeast 179th Street on the north, State Route 503, or Northeast 117th Avenue, on the west, the Columbia River on the south and Skamania County on the east.

Commission members serve three-year terms. The group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Auto Licensing and Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St.

The group is a volunteer advisory panel to the Board of County Commissioners. Members make recommendations on solid waste, landfills, transfer stations, recycling, waste reduction programs and other issues.

Those who want to be considered for appointment to the Solid Waste Advisory Commission must send a letter of interest and resume to Jennifer Clark, Commissioners’ Office, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver 98666-5000. Deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.
