Vancouver, WA – Former Vancouver City Councilwoman Jeanne Stewart will be inducted into the Washington State Recycling Association Recycling Hall of Fame this week.
A banquet will be part of the association’s 34th Annual Conference & Trade Show at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St. Tickets can be purchased online at www.wsra.net.
The Recycling Hall of Fame honors outstanding long-term contributions to recycling in Washington. A committee of recycling professionals selects inductees.
For two decades, Stewart has helped Clark County develop progressive recycling and waste prevention programs. Her advocacy began in 1991 when she volunteered to serve on the Clark County Citizens’ Recycling Committee, which helped establish the county’s recycling efforts. She then joined the Clark County Solid Waste Advisory Commission, where she served until December 2013.
“Jeanne is well known and appreciated for her detail-oriented work,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “She is greatly admired for her commitment to citizens, community and the environment.”
