Community planning groups
Region 6 AIDSNET supports community planning groups that ensure that those at risk of HIV infection as well as people living with HIV and AIDS can contribute to annual regional plans for HIV prevention and care services. The Region 6 HIV Prevention Planning and Care Services committees work independently to determine regional priorities, but also meet together to ensure that resources are well coordinated in Region 6. The committees are composed of service providers, public health staff, and community volunteers meetings (PDF) are generally held in the Olympia area.
The Region 6 HIV Prevention Planning Group meets approximately 8 times per year to develop a plan to ensure that state and federal funds granted to the region are focused on populations at highest risk for HIV infection, and that programs are located where these populations are found within the region. If you would like to join this group, please contact Debra Coss-Fricke at Debra.coss@clark.wa.gov or (360) 397-8465 for more information.
The HIV Care Services Committee meets approximately 4 times a year to provide input to the regional coordinator regarding the region’s annual application to the Washington State Department of Health for Ryan White Program Part B funds (formerly Title II). Some of the services discussed in these meetings are HIV case management, health care for those living with HIV, support programs and medical transportation. Persons infected with HIV and service providers from across the region sit on this planning group. If you would like to join this group, please contact Debra Coss-Fricke at Debra.coss@clark.wa.gov or (360) 397-8465 for more information.
