Public Health offers the following services to help you prevent getting or giving HIV.

Positive Changes

What is Positive Changes?
Through three or more, one-on-one meetings with a prevention specialist, Positive Changes participants learn how to reduce the risk of getting or giving HIV. Participants practice new or improved skills in and out of sessions. 

Who is a good fit for Positive Changes?  
Positive Changes participants are:

  • HIV negative or unsure of their HIV status and one or more of the following:
    • Sharing needles or injection drug equipment.
    • Having sex with a man who has sex with other men.
    • Having unprotected sex or sharing needles with someone known to have HIV.
    OR
  • Living with HIV and one or more of the following:
    • Sharing needles or injection drug equipment.
    • Having sex with a man who has sex with other men.
    • Needing support in disclosing HIV status to partner(s).

When can I meet with a prevention specialist?
Appointments are typically available Tuesday through Friday before 2 p.m., but may also be scheduled at alternate times.

Healthy Relationships

What is Healthy Relationships?
Healthy Relationships is a group for  people living with HIV that want to learn tools and get support to help disclose their HIV status to others. Participants discuss challenges to disclosure and share their successes with the group.
                                      
When does the group meet?
Healthy Relationships will start in 2009. This 5-week group will be held 2 times per year.

Holistic Health Recovery Program

What is the Holistic Health Recovery Program? 
The Holistic Health Recovery Program is a 12-week group for people living with HIV who are interested in reducing or ending use of illegal drugs, or maintaining clean time. The group discusses medical, emotional, spiritual and social issues. Safer sex and safer injection drug use may also be discussed. 

When does the group meet?
Holistic Health Recovery Program is offered 2 times per year.
