Children may be able to get low or no-cost health insurance through the following programs:
- Washington Apple Health for Kids.
- Basic Health Plus.
Washington Apple Health for Kids
Thousands of Clark County kids are eligible for state funded low-cost or free health insurance called Washington Apple Health for Kids. In addition to medical care, this insurance covers dental, vision and mental health or substance abuse counseling.
Do I qualify?
Check the income guidelines below to see if you qualify. Even if you haven’t qualified in the past, you may qualify now.
*Low-cost coverage is $15 per month, per child: up to a maximum of $45 a month

This is a
Medicaid program for children who are under age 19, and live in households that meet the eligibility guidelines for Medicaid. The program allows you to get extra services, such as dental and eyeglasses, not covered by Basic Health. The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) determines eligibility for Basic Health Plus. Children enrolled in the Basic Health Plus program will get letters and a Medical ID card from DSHS to cover the extra services. Basic Health will send you information about your child’s managed care health plan.
