Vancouver, WA – As Public Health and its community partners work to ensure access to health care, health officials remind Clark County residents they can save money on prescription drugs through the county’s prescription drug discount program.

Since the free program was introduced in November 2006, county residents have used prescription discount cards to fill nearly 213,000 prescriptions. The average discount is 26 percent, resulting in an average savings of nearly $11 per prescription. Through December 2011, Clark County residents saved more than $2.4 million with the program.

The county makes prescription drug discount cards available free under a program sponsored by the National Association of Counties. All county residents can use the cards, regardless of age, income or existing health coverage. The card is accepted at most pharmacies. A Spanish version is available.

Cards are available free at locations throughout the county, including city halls, participating pharmacies, C-Tran transit centers and the following Clark County facilities in Vancouver:
• Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd.
• Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.
• Auto License department, 1408 Franklin St.

Residents can use the cards for their family members when a prescription is not covered by insurance. There are no restrictions or limits on how many times the card can be used. Call 1-877-321-2652 or visit http://naco.advancerx.com for help or to check the price of medicines online. The program is administered by Caremark Rx, Inc.
