Growth plan’s health focus on display at public forum April 10
Jonnie Hyde, Public Health
Vancouver, WA – How you plan and build a community can help residents lead healthy lives. That’s what the Clark County Public Health Advisory Council will demonstrate as it presents recommendations for updating the Clark County Comprehensive Growth Management Plan with health promotion strategies.
The forum takes place April 10, 4 – 5:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Community Library, Columbia Room, 901 C St. Anyone with an interest in community health is encouraged to attend. Learn more and share your experiences with the council and the Clark County Board of Health. Light refreshments will be provided.
The advisory council will present the Growing Healthier Report (PDF), prepared by Public Health staff. In addition to policy recommendations, the report summarizes national research on the built environment and current conditions in Clark County. The report’s eight topic areas are further analyzed in a series of detailed background reports. Topics include:
• Access to Healthy Food
• Active Transportation and Land Use
• Parks and Open Spaces
• Economic Opportunity
• Affordable, Quality Housing
• Climate Change and Human Health
• Environmental Quality
• Safety and Social Connections
