Board of Health seeks applicants for Mosquito Control Board vacancies

Vancouver, WA – The Clark County Board of Health is calling for applications to fill two seats on the Mosquito Control Board. One seat must be filled by a resident of Commissioner District 1, and the second seat must be filled by a resident of Commissioner District 3.
The District 1 position is an unexpired term that will conclude May 31, 2015. The District 3 position term will be June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2016.
District 1 covers north Clark County, including Salmon Creek, Hazel Dell and the cities of Ridgefield, Battle Ground, La Center, Yacolt and Amboy.
District 3 is primarily within Vancouver city limits, but includes the area around Vancouver Lake, east to Interstate 205 and north to Salmon Creek and Hazel Dell.
The Mosquito Control Board is composed of one person from each Clark County city and three members appointed at large by the county commissioners. The board establishes the mosquito control policy, prepares and approves district expenditures, and contracts for services. Operational activities are contracted with Clark County Public Health, which administers the program.
The Mosquito Control Board meets quarterly. Regular meetings, which are open to the public, are scheduled for February, May, August and November. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. and adjourn at approximately 8:30 p.m.
