Project Number: 330522 Project Type: Road widening and frontage improvements. Project Description Construction of this project in 2009 is made possible by a $2.5 million economic stimulus grant as part of the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Clark County will also include $2 million of local tax dollars for construction. Combined, these investments will support more than 40 private-sector jobs for several months. Work will include widening two travel lanes, creating a center left turn lane, and adding bike lanes and sidewalks. The project is expected to begin by fall 2009. It will take about 8 months to complete. The new road will have two 12-foot travel lanes, a 12-foot wide center turn lane, 5-foot bike lanes and 6-foot sidewalks. Stormwater Management Improvements This project will use the principles of Low Impact Development (LID) to manage stormwater runoff from the new roadway. These approaches will include creation of rain garden areas adjacent to the road to capture and clean stormwater runoff. Special piping underneath the road will also help stormwater soak into the ground instead of running off and causing potential pollution in local creeks.
