Responsible for the acquisition of properties and property rights necessary for Public Works projects that include:
- ownership and title information
- appraisal and appraisal review
- acquisition
- relocation assistance
- condemnation services when requested
- contract acquisition
- consultants and manager contracts
- demolition of unwanted structures and selling surplus properties by auction
Real Property personnel work closely with County design engineers, project managers, surveyors, and construction managers. They also deal with citizens, attorneys, municipalities, utility providers, contractors, developers, lending institutions and permitting agencies. Core functions of Real Property Services also include tracking of County Right of Ways, both past and present. Many County Road records dating back to the 1850's are preserved and indexed for rapid retrieval.
