The NE 63rd Street project is now substantially complete, with minor landscaping work remaining. |
Project Number: CRP 330422
Project Limits: Between NE Andresen Rd. and I-205
Current Phase: Complete
Project Type: Road Improvement and stormwater management
Construction complete on NE 63rd Street
Construction began in May 2007, and concluded in December. Clark County improved NE 63rd Street between NE Andresen Road and I-205. Improvements include two travel lanes in each direction with left turn lanes between NE Andresen and NE 72nd Avenue. The new roadway will be one travel lane each way with a center turn lane between NE 72nd Avenue and I-205.
The project also includes bicycle lanes and sidewalks on each side; stormwater drainage improvements; environmental improvements; and addition of a new traffic signal at the intersection of NE 72nd Avenue and NE 63rd Street.
Why did Clark County do this project?
This project improves drivers, pedestrian and bicycle safety. It will also improve traffic flow in this increasingly busy area. NE 63rd Street has been raised somewhat to better match with the intersection at NE 72nd Avenue.

Protecting the natural environment The project includes 3.8 acres of new impervious surface which in turn creates additional stormwater runoff that must be properly managed. The county built a stormwater treatment wetland on the southwest corner of the intersection of NE 63rd Street and NE 72nd Avenue. This new facility will capture and help clean runoff before releasing it into the existing storm system. Runoff from other areas within adjacent areas will be routed to drywells and infiltration facilities. |
