Clark County contains several large rivers and smaller streams that are prone to annual flooding that pose threats to life and safety and cause significant property damage.
July 2012 update
Clark County has updated its flood hazard ordinance as part of the process for adopting final flood insurance rate maps issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The revised maps and related flood study take effect on Sept. 5, 2012. The county amended its flood hazard ordinance and adopted the maps so residents can continue to purchase flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program.
