Vancouver, WA – Clark County Public Works will close a portion of Padden Parkway in both directions next week so a private contractor can repave 1.7 miles safely and quickly.
The closure is scheduled from 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28. Knife River Corp. plans to run 24-hour shifts to complete the work from Northeast 94th Avenue east to Northeast 117th Avenue/State Route 503, weather permitting.
“This is a major project that we want to get done as quickly and as safely as possible,” said Linda Small, pavement preservation manager. “We appreciate public understanding and cooperation in doing what is necessary to preserve the taxpayers’ investment in roads and other infrastructure.”
More than 8,600 tons of hot mix asphalt will be used to reinforce the existing pavement. The project also will include building drainage improvements.
Padden Parkway is a major east-west thoroughfare connecting east county areas to Interstate 205 and the urban area just north of Vancouver, near Northeast 78th Street and Interstate 5.
The project will have signs and detours to guide motorists. Additional information will be widely available before work begins.
